Pastoral Care: Shepherding God's People

Pastoral ministry is a sacred calling that extends far beyond preaching sermons from the pulpit. It involves faithfully shepherding God's people through every season of life with compassion, wisdom, humility, and biblical truth. This course provides comprehensive training in the principles and practices of pastoral care, equipping students to minister effectively to individuals, families, and congregations. Learners will explore the biblical model of shepherding as demonstrated by Jesus Christ, the Good Shepherd, and by the apostles who devoted themselves to nurturing, protecting, and strengthening the early church. Throughout this course, students will examine the diverse responsibilities entrusted to pastors and ministry leaders. Topics include hospital and home visitation, biblical counseling, crisis intervention, grief and bereavement support, marriage and family encouragement, prayer ministry, discipleship, conflict resolution, and caring for believers during times of illness, suffering, and personal hardship. Students will learn how to minister with empathy and discernment while maintaining biblical convictions, confidentiality, and ethical integrity. Practical ministry scenarios and real-life applications will help learners develop confidence in responding wisely and compassionately to the many challenges faced within the local church.

Special attention is given to servant leadership as the foundation of effective pastoral ministry.
